Michał Zygmunt –a musician and a composer, one of the most intriguing and colourful personalities on Polish guitar scene. Unambiguous, though not easy to capture in musical categories. His débutin 2008, Swiaty (Worlds), earned him the reputation of a master of acoustic jazz guitar and his music was complimented as the essence of world jazz. In 2010 he released ‘Organic’, partly recorded inNew York, fruit of fascinations of world music and the sound of acoustic guitar. The latest album, Muzyki, inspired by Polish folk music, recorded with Rolim Mosimann, a Swiss Producer and drummer, formerly cooperating with Faith No More, Bjork, the Young Gods, The The, Smashing Pumpkins, Swans, New Order, came out in 2011.
Fine craft and musical sophistication are advantages appreciated by both reviewers and the audience. The concerts are emotional and light as well as full of masculine charm – you get a lot of strength and impetus. The music, based upon ethnic dance and trance rhythms, won’t leave anyone indifferent. You can never tell when a set sequence turns into a free improvisation with loads of blues swinging, Gipsy craft and Slavic imagination. The artist plays some unusual instruments: acoustic, baritone and resonator guitar.
